Day 2 : Thursday 14th June 2007

New York

Today was going to be a funny day – half holiday, but half work as I made a visit to my company’s office in NYC in the middle of the day. After waking early, I took a brief walk around the local mid town area, taking in the Rockefeller Center and Times Sq. It was very busy on the streets and actually not that enjoyable. I was glad to find a quiet McDonald’s on 47th St. for a quick bit of breakfast.

I returned to my hotel at about 11am in order to get changed and head to the office, which I did via the local subway station. Not getting back until around 3:30pm, and feeling somewhat tired with another evening out in front of me, I just relaxed until meeting my friend at his hotel the Grand Hyatt outside the Chrysler Building at 6pm.

We headed on foot down to a rooftop bar on 5th Avenue (at around 24th) which was packed and expensive and full of beautiful people! We had two smallish beers ($18) and then left in a taxi for East Village and a lovely, although very small and empty Thai restaurant. Following that we visited a few local pubs and made a small crawl of it, getting a free Red Stripe and T-Shirt on the way round! By 10:30pm I was pretty whacked, so headed back to the IC.
