Intercontinental, Bangkok

There are few superlatives that do this place justice, so I will just leave it at WOW! I would probably say this is the nicest hotel with the best service that I have ever stayed at. This was my first experience as a Royal Ambassador and it seems to have been worth every penny spent to build up that status.

With my status I was able to upgrade from a Deluxe room to a Club Intercontinental Deluxe room. This gives access to the Club and is situated on a higher floor. The amenities provided were a bowl of fruit and various chocolates and snacks and a bottle of Jacob's Creek Shiraz. Apart from the latter, these were replaced daily. The room was well sized with a King size bed and a separate bath and walk-in shower.

Club Intercontinental

This Club has a reputation as one of the best around and it certainly lived up to expectations on my trip. From delicious breakfasts (including a la carte options), evening "happy hour", that is 2 hours of free drinks and excellent food including sushi, hot options (e.g. spring rolls, chicken satay) and plenty of cold options) and open all day for soft drinks, with business meeting rooms, internet terminals and excellent decor. I checked in here and was offered a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice during the process. And the views from its location on the 37th floor are to die for! Overall highly, highly impressive.

Just to the right of the Club, also on the 37th Floor is the hotel's pool. It is very well laid out and designed, although it is rather small and shallow - certainly more suitable for wallowing rather than swimming lengths. And that was perfectly OK for me!
