SQ222 Sydney Kingsford Smith Intl (SYD) - Singapore Changi Intl (SIN)
Date: 27 March 2005
Departure (scheduled): 15:50
Arrival (scheduled): 21:55
Aircraft: Boeing 747-400
Cabin: Economy
Seat: 36G

I had already checked in online for this flight, so I approached the Raffles class counter in Sydney knowing which seat I had already chosen. Unfortunately I hadn't been able to choose a seat for the London flight - not quite sure why?

Anyway, check-in was quick and I headed on through security and located the lounge which I found to be nice, but nothing special. I had heard that the Air NZ lounge is supposed to be great and I suppose in hindsight I should have checked it out. But I always feel that it is inappropriate - I was flying SQ with a bmi Gold card - it really has nothing to do with Air NZ, even though they are members of the Star Alliance. But even so, I felt that I should really stay put in the SQ lounge (it wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination).

Soon it was time to board and I was pleased to find that the seat next to me had been kept free. I only hoped that this was the case for the London flight too!

Taxi and take-off were completed with the minimum of fuss and we were soon heading out over the great expanse of Australia and reaching cruising altitude. Unfortunately I cannot now remember much else about the flight (this is being written a couple of months after the event), but the food was good and Krisworld, the entertainment system, was as wonderful as ever.

The flight seemed to pass in next to no time and we were soon on our way into SIN where I would be connecting on my flight to LHR.
