Intercontinental, Singapore

On my previous visits to Singapore I had stayed elsewhere, so this was my first stay at the IC. I had had some trouble in advance getting a suitable upgrade, settling in the end for a Premier Room (junior suite) with no Club access, hardly a very good recognition of a Royal Ambassador. From what I hear, you have to be very demanding at this hotel to get suitable upgrades in advance. As I arrived very late in the night, I could not be bothered to argue at check-in and accepted what I had been given.

The room was actually very nice and larger than I had imagined (52 sqm I think). It is an L shaped room, wrapped round the back of the elevator shaft (although there is little to no noise). A large plasma screen TV on a swivel stand means it can be viewed from the seating or bedroom area. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was marble and modern with separate walk-in shower and bath. Overall, despite the disappointment in not getting Club access or a full suite, this was a very acceptable alternative.

The public areas of the hotel were fantastic, particularly the magnificent lobby. The pool was great, although could have been deeper. Overall this is a very nice hotel.
