Intercontinental, Beijing, China

This is a very new hotel and the hard product is excellent. Everything reeks of being new, the interior furnishings are excellent. I had booked a standard room and was upgraded to a Club level room. I probably could have pushed it and tried for a Club suite, however I was quite tired and glad to get to the hotel when I arrived, so I just accepted what I had.

The room was very nice, quite large (roughly 50sqm I would say) and contained a large King bed, with a very large Plasma screen TV on the wall. Separate work desk and comfortable chair were also easily fitted in. An intriguing feature was a double glazed huge window through to the bathroom complete with blind. This had the effect of seemingly increasing the size of the room. The bathroom also had fashionable sliding doors. The view wasn't much to speak about, mostly a building site, although the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park were visible in the distance through the haze!

Club Intercontinental

The Club, in line with rest of the hotel, was obviously brand new. The service was keen and well-meaning, but in a bit of a wayward kind of way. Nothing bad, just a bit random at times! The layout of canapés and breakfast was exquisite, and the content was above average I would say. For the most part, the lounge was very quiet when I visited for both breakfast and evening canapés.
