To Muscat

Following a few too many drinks on Friday night, I had to get up early at 7am to actually pack for this trip before the taxi arrived at 10:30am! My original plan had been to fly out to Dublin around midday and then fly back to Heathrow - the ticket I had bought to get me to Bangkok on Gulf Air started in Dublin. However, following something I had read on Flyertalk, I went to the Gulf Air office and asked whether I needed to start in Dublin and was told that no, since I was already in London I could just come back at check-in time (4:30pm) and start the trip from LHR. Perfect!

I stored my luggage in the Left Luggage office and made my way back into Chiswick (only about 30 mins from LHR on the tube) where my friends were having lunch, before heading back to the airport and arriving at about 5pm.

Check-in proceeded well, although the second flight (Muscat to Bangkok) was not open at this time, so I only got my boarding pass for the first sector. Security was a pleasure for once, the Fast Track queue was very quiet and it was soon into Gulf Air's very nice, if somewhat small First/Business lounge, located next to the American Airlines Flagship lounge and under the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. A couple of hours passed very quickly and I was soon heading towards Gate 29 to board the first flight of many on this trip.
